I've decided that I will hold off on the handgun for a while. I've always been a long gun guy anyway, and I happen to have a little bit of extra cash now so that I can afford to buy one of the more expensive guns on my list, an AR-15.
Since my needs are fairly mundane, I've decided that something compatibly low end will be fine for me. I picked out the Smith and Wesson M&P 15 sport. It lacks both a dust cover, and a forward assist. The forward assist is next to worthless if you know what you are doing with an AR, so that doesn't bother me, and I don't ever expect to let my AR get dirty enough that not having a dust cover would affect it.
I've heard nothing but good things about the gun, they supply with it one of the best mags on the marget (magpul pmag), and if I decide I wanted to spruce it up later on, that's an option that's available to me using standard AR parts. I'm really excited to get a gun that I can take out to 200+ yards. To top it all off, it's made in the USA, and has a lifetime warranty. Can't go wrong right? I'm waiting to hear back on a quote now, should be around $600 or a little higher. I'm so excited.
